The Centaur is a half beast - half man creature of the forest and mountains, with the tail, ears, and legs of a horse. Being altogether mischievous they were lustful, fertile creatures, always merrily drinking and dancing.

With the attributes of their dance they are able to subdue women by artful flatteries. They were an important part of Dionysus' entourage, the God who taught men to grow and harvest the wine of the vine.
